The Focused Church

Anchor Scripture

Acts 6:1, 3–4 (KJV)

1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. 3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. 4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

We live in the last days, and as such, we should be extremely careful of the way we live and the things we allow amongst ourselves. The Lord is coming back for a church that is focused. A focused church is the dream of our Jesus. A focused church is one that is not distracted by the devil.

The way you mark a focused church is to look out for the people to see if they are committed to doing the work of the kingdom or if they are doing something else. This is the case of the early church, where the enemy almost got the Apostles in the place of distributing food and thereby taking their minds and eyes away from the call of the ministry.

But thank God they got it right later and told them they would spend time in the word and prayer. The focused church is one that spends time in prayers, the ministry of the word, fasting, and evangelism and discipleship programmes to grow her people. But if failure is found in these things, then the church has lost it.

Selah.

Prayer

Lord, we thank you for your word, and we ask that you help us daily to fan the zeal in you and keep us ever burning so we don't lose our focus as a church. Amen.
