“I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”
- Psalm 27:13 KJV
In our theme Scripture, King David reveals God’s ultimate dream and desire for every one of His children this year. He says it is for you TO SEE THE GOODNESS OF THE LORD IN THE LAND OF THE LIVING.
Don’t let anyone talk you out of this experience. Don’t let them condition you into not accepting or seeing that this is His will for you.
David said, “I had ‘fainted’...” I want you to know that the word ‘fainted’ means to ‘give up’. The same word was used in Proverbs 24:10 KJV, which says, “If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.”
Both the word 'faint' in Proverbs 24:10 and the word 'fainted' in Psalm 27:13 mean the same thing. It means “give up”. So Proverbs 24:10 says that if you give up on the day of adversity, your strength is small.
In the same vein, David said: “I had given up, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord.” It may not sound right grammatically, but it makes more sense when you read it in the Amplified Bible translation.
“[What, what would have become of me] had I not believed that I would see the Lord's goodness in the land of the living!”
- Psalm 27:13 AMPC
In this verse, he reveals the secret of seeing the goodness of the Lord this year. It isn’t by fasting, climbing the mountain, or hitting your father's altar but BY BELIEVING.
All God requires from you and me this year to see His goodness is to believe. Now you may ask: But what do I believe? You must believe in Jesus.
Believe He paid the price for you.
Believe He can do what He said He would do.
Believe He can perform miracles in your life this year.
When you are tempted to go in another direction this year, remember that the only requirement for you this year is to believe - don’t try to do anything else but believe: when you do, you begin to confess His Word. Declare that you will see His goodness, and it will be your portion.
Don’t act like the people who said, “until I see; I won’t believe” - this is called doubt/unbelief. Believe even before you see - this is called FAITH. Believe today, and you will see.
SHALOM!
