“There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed. His enemies will I clothe with shame: But upon himself shall his crown flourish.”
- Psalm 132:17-18 KJV
Today, like the promises made to God’s servant David, I’d like to share THE NOW WORD for us pertaining to this season and time with you.
A careful observation of this Scripture, especially verse 17, reveals that the word “HORN” speaks of “Authority” and “Rulership.” The meaning is that though at this time, the horn of David was already taken down, He (God) would cause it to bud again.
The sprouting or growing horn is an image of a young vigorous life. From Psalm 75:5 KJV “Lift not up your horn on high: Speak not with a stiff neck.”
The messianic application of this prediction comes out in Zechariah's song in Luke 1: 69-70 KJV: “And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us In the house of his servant David; As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:”
Now, follow closely…
“I have ordained a LAMP for my Anointed…” This is the very word used in connection with the sacred lights, under the charge of Aaron and his sons [Exodus 27:20-21, Leviticus 24:2-3].
Let us connect this to the sacred promise made to David in 1 Kings 11:36 KJV “And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.”
You may ask, what does all these imply and how does it affect us today? God is saying to the church, “My plans for you exceed the NOW, for I am God, even of your tomorrow. Though the enemy tried to bring you down and cut your tree, because of My word of Grace, I will make you bud again, I will ordain a lamp for you that will stand to testify of My goodness."
The lamp is “the light” of His Presence that will keep testifying of His goodness. It stands for the spirit of that righteous believer who has tasted His goodness.
This is why you and I can’t keep quiet. This is why we must tell everyone of this gospel. We must bring men and women into this same light.
Rejoice, child of God! For God has ordained a lamp to keep your posterity shining always to the glory of His Name, Amen.
