The Spirit of Instruction

“We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers are as widows."

- Lamentations 5:3 KJV

This is a powerful Scripture. When the writer used the word “orphans" here, the picture painted here is one who is lonely or a bereaved person. This is the picture of a man without a guide. It was the state of those in the Old Testament and those under the law.

No true Christian or child of God should picture himself or herself to be the one spoken of in this verse. For instance, you don't claim this verse as yours because in John 14:18 KJV, the Lord Jesus said, “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you."

Do you know what the Greek word for “Comfortless" is? It is the word “Orphanos", where the English word “orphan" is coined from, and here it means the same thing: one bereaved (Orphan - parentless). The Master said He wouldn't leave us as this, but that He would come back to us to be our Father. This He fulfilled when He came in the person of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ. He is the Spirit that came to comfort us, and take us out of this state of being alone or lonely. But this is not all - For any of us to win over the works of the flesh and be a success, we need to live by certain instructions of the Spirit. These instructions will come from the Spirit of God.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of instructions. These instructions are words direct from Jesus that He gives to us to make us better and by it, we win and become victors instead of victims.

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever HE SHALL Hear, THAT SHALL HE SPEAK: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: FOR HE SHALL RECEIVE OF MINE, AND SHALL SHEW IT UNTO YOU."

- John 16:13-14 KJV

Child of God, do you want to do well in your Christian walk? Then take instructions from the Spirit.

Do you want your relationship or marriage to work? Then take His instructions.

Do you want your ministry or prayer life to be on fire? Take His instructions.

This is one of the reason He gave us the Holy Spirit; that He will help us to hear effectively and we don't lose.

“But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, nor receive instruction."

- Jeremiah 17:23 KJV

Joshua won and brought down Jericho because he waited and listened to the instructions from God. How do we think we can survive this year without the Spirit of instructions? Accept that you can't, that you don't have the power over that thing, then welcome the Spirit of instruction and He will make you a wonder today.

Say this prayer now: Spirit of GOD, I thank You for Your Word. I ask that You forgive me for the ways I have neglected You. I ask that You come lead me, guide me, and shine Your light while I follow. I am open to Your instructions of life that will help make me your man in Jesus name. Amen!

SHALOM!
