The Light That Lighteth Every Man
Anchor Scripture
John 1:6–9 (KJV)
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was THE TRUE LIGHT THAT LIGHTETH every man that cometh into the world.
When John, the writer of this our text, says in verse 9: "...That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world," what do you think he was saying? What does it mean to you, and to whom was he talking?
John was apparently referring to Jesus, and what he said about him was nothing but the truth. Jesus was the light that lighteth every man that comes into this world.
This statement means that Jesus gives true definition to people's lives. It means that it is in his light that men and women see light. It means that he is the one that defines for you what your life should be like. It means that he leads while you follow. It means that he is the pathfinder and the light giver.
There are people like this also that God sends our way. Their appearance gives light to our life. They bring definition to our world. When you find such people, don't leave them. This is also your calling as a child of God. The reason he saved you is so you can save others too. The reason he lighted your path is so you do the same for others. Fulfil your calling today.
Prayer
Lord, I am grateful. I am grateful for your word, for the light you are shining in my world daily. It is because of it I see and I shine, and I am able to lead other men into it. Thank you, Father, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
