As The Servant Of The Lord, Don't Strive

Anchor Scripture

2 Timothy 2:24 (KJV)

And the servant of the Lord MUST NOT STRIVE; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient.

Why do some believers think that by following the way of the scripture people will maltreat them? Any believer still thinking like this is still operating in the flesh. We can’t be wiser than God. If God says to do a thing, then we are to do it. That is what it means to be loyal and to walk in agreement with him.

Paul the Apostle is giving you and me some criteria to look out for in the life of one who calls himself or herself a servant of the Lord. Who is a servant of the Lord? He is a leader in the house of the Lord. He is a worker, a man of God. He says you must not strive.

What does this mean?

"And the servant of the Lord must not be quarrelsome (fighting and contending)."

- 2 Timothy 2:24 (AMPC)

How can you call yourself a servant of the Lord, a leader, a pastor, or a worker, and you are quarrelsome? Why are you always fighting and contending? Something is missing. You don't have the virtue of a Christian, and this will constantly cost you.

He says you are to be gentle and patient. These are some of the Christian virtues we are to walk in. Be guided.

Prayer

Loving Father, I embrace your truth today and I ask for your strength and grace to walk this path as I should, and may I not be found wanting. Amen.
