We Have Obtained Mercy

Anchor Scripture

1 Peter 2:9–10 (KJV)

9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

It is time for us as a church and the body of Christ to wake up and start taking advantage of the In-Christ realities we have in Him. It is time we wake up and say no to the wrong teachings and messages that are circulating in the body of Christ coming from the lips of ignorant men and women of God, because such messages have the ability in them to enslave men.

We have today many enslaved believers, and this is so, not because Christ enslaved us, but because these people have enslaved us by bringing a wrong teaching and doctrine to the body of Christ.

An example is what Peter the Apostle is pointing out to us in our theme scripture. We have many messages asking the believer in Christ to “Ask God for mercy”, and this sounds true, but just because it sounds true does not mean it's true.

We are not to ask for mercy but to thank him for his mercy in our lives because we have obtained mercy. Amen.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank you for this truth. I thank you for showing me mercy and revealing to me the way to approach your throne of grace, that it is only with thanksgiving for all you have done. For this, I say thank you.
