Proverbs 8:13 KJV
The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
I want to show you from our theme scripture the third evil you are to hate if the fear of the Lord is working in your life. Solomon calls it THE EVIL WAY.
What does this mean? This means evil behaviour. Evil behaviour can mean different things to people, but what does it mean to God? I will use what David wrote in Psalm 1:1 (KJV) to explain it better.
"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful."
- Psalm 1:1 KJV
This whole attitude shown here by David is bad. How can you, a believer, be so comfortable walking in the counsel of the ungodly?
There are leaders in church whose friends are all people who don’t go to church and don't believe in church. In fact, they call you names like 'mummy church' or 'pastor', and you are still with them. After a while, you will start going down in your Christian walk.
Some stand in the way of sinners, i.e., they function with the opinion they get from sinners. They are the ones giving you advice. How can this be?
They sit in the seat of the scornful. They are with people who mock men and women of God and the things of God. This behaviour is bad, and you must stop it. Be wise.
I ask for Your mercy, and I repent from my evil ways, oh Lord, and I will allow Your word to teach me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
"A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle."
Proverbs 18:19 KJV

You can’t claim to walk in the fear of the Lord and not be distant from some evil. In fact, the level of hate you show towards some evil will reveal the level of the fear of the Lord you have in you.

I grew up in my faith, loving this verse of Scripture from Solomon. The Spirit of the Lord used this verse to tame me and raise the banner of the fear of the Lord in my life. Through it, He gave me a lens with which I view and judge things.
